P0441 means the ECM commanded an EVAP purge test but did not see the expected flow or tank-pressure response. It does not automatically name a purge valve. A cap/filler leak, purge VSV that leaks or cannot flow, vent fault, restricted or crushed vapor line, canister contamination, tank-pressure bias or hose-routing error can all cause it. On a Tacoma, inspect underbody lines and canister/vent exposure after mud, water, impact or frame/tank work.

Inspect the Tacoma from the tank forward
Follow the filler and vapor plumbing around the tank, frame and canister before focusing only under the hood. Look for missing clips, abrasion, crushed sections and mud-packed vent hardware.
Photograph routing after recent bed, tank or frame service. A hose on the wrong port can look electrically normal while the monitor response remains wrong.
Commanded state and actual vapor control are separate
A scan tool can show the ECM command, but the valve may still leak, stick or lack flow. Test physical sealing/flow and circuit operation as two separate facts.
Watch tank-pressure response while controlling the other paths. That response is more useful than replacing multiple valves because one clicks differently.
Use only EVAP-regulated smoke
Unrestricted shop air can damage the canister, sensor or tank. Use approved equipment and Toyota's pressure limit.
After the physical repair, wait for correct fuel level and soak. Clearing the lamp does not prove the purge-flow monitor can pass.
Save these scan-data clues
Freeze frame is a snapshot of conditions when the PCM matured the fault. It can distinguish an idle-only problem from a load, cold-start or monitor-completion problem. Clearing first throws that context away.

Do not replace the purge valve because the code includes 'purge flow.' A Tacoma vent path packed with debris or a damaged frame-side vapor line can create the same failed system response.
