A towing misfire needs load evidence without repeated damage

Save the original load, rpm and fuel-pressure data. Reproduce only enough safe demand to confirm the repaired system; do not pull the same grade with a flashing lamp.

Weak ignition and low fuel delivery may pass a driveway idle. That does not justify replacing every coil; identify which counters and pressures change first.

How D0U fits a P0300 diagnosis

The recall describes a supplier-related valve-spring pitting condition on certain 2TR-FE vehicles. Broken springs can create noise, rough running and loss of engine operation, all of which can accompany misfire.

Check VIN campaign status and measure valve motion/compression. A stored P0300 on an ineligible or quiet/compression-healthy truck is not proof of the recall condition.

Dust tracks are physical evidence

Inspect the clean side of the filter housing and downstream duct for dust trails after off-road use. Unmetered or contaminated airflow can disturb multiple cylinders and fuel trims.

After correction, verify counters during the same cold/load class safely and inspect pending codes. A cleared lamp at idle is not enough.
