Circuit wording is not a sensor verdict

Power, ground, signal amplitude and waveform plausibility all contribute to P0340. A replacement sensor cannot correct a missing reference supply or a spread terminal.

Load-test the feed and ground before replacement. An unloaded meter can display normal voltage through a high-resistance connection that collapses when the circuit operates.

Waveforms show dropout versus phase shift

Missing or noisy edges favor sensor, connector or harness faults, especially when heat or vibration triggers them.

A stable offset between otherwise clean cam and crank waveforms favors mechanical timing, phaser or reluctor position and deserves a different inspection path.
