WHAT P0128 MEANS

P0128 means Optima coolant temperature did not rise or regulate as the ECM expected. A leaking-open thermostat is common, but low coolant, trapped air, biased ECT data, unintended fan operation or an incorrect thermostat can imitate it. Compare ECT and intake-air temperature after a long soak, inspect coolant cold, then graph temperature, speed, load, fan command and heater use. Hybrid engine-off operation and its additional cooling control require the correct service mode and bleed procedure.
