P0171 means the PCM added more fuel than its correction limit allowed on the CR-V's only cylinder bank. It does not mean replace the upstream A/F sensor. Compare short- and long-term correction at hot idle, raised rpm and safe load. A large idle-only correction suggests intake, PCV, brake-booster or purge leakage. Correction that worsens with load favors fuel delivery, injector flow or load-sensing error. On 1.5L turbo models, pressure-test charge plumbing and compare low- and high-side fuel data. Older K24 speed-density and later airflow strategies do not support one universal MAF-cleaning fix.

How to clear P0171 and confirm the repair
Clearing is the final step, not the first. Save the original freeze frame and trim pattern, correct the proven fault, and then use the scan tool to erase codes if the service procedure calls for it. Disconnecting the battery is a poor substitute: it can erase learned values and unrelated settings without proving anything.
Warm the engine to closed loop and repeat the same idle and higher-airflow comparison used during diagnosis. Bank 1 should no longer require abnormal positive correction, Bank 2 should remain a useful reference, and the repaired hose or seal should pass a second smoke inspection. Then reproduce the load and temperature recorded in freeze frame without forcing unsafe operation.
Recheck pending codes after the drive and confirm readiness progresses normally. A lamp that remains off for five minutes at idle is not proof. If trims drift positive again, stop and preserve the new data rather than clearing repeatedly; an intermittent purge, wiring or fuel-delivery fault may need a longer graph and a different operating condition.

A vacuum leak contributes a larger percentage of total airflow at idle, so its correction often fades as rpm rises.
A weak pump may look acceptable at idle and fall behind when engine demand increases.
Turbo air can escape on either side of the throttle
Vacuum-side leaks dominate idle; compressed-air leaks often appear under boost.
Test the complete route and do not assume a loose intercooler joint must create a noisy leak.
Generation determines the useful sensor
Some CR-V calibrations infer airflow primarily from manifold pressure while newer systems provide additional airflow data.
Use agreement among pressure, airflow, throttle and correction instead of a copied grams-per-second rule.
