As fuel leaves the tank, air has to come back in through the evaporative-emissions system to replace it. When that path is blocked — or when engine vacuum is being applied to the tank continuously because a purge valve is stuck open — vacuum builds and will not bleed off. The PCM sees the fuel-tank pressure sensor reporting vacuum it cannot relieve and stores the code.

Why this code is worse on a body-on-frame SUV

P1450 describes trapped vacuum, and the reason it matters is what that vacuum does to the fuel tank.
